Not just in the movies.
I took some time off writing. I know I was on a roll- which is why I can't believe I stopped a good thing. Life happens. Honestly, I was finally listening to one of the rules some wise elder once told me, "Think before you speak" - in this case - write.
After I wrote about Ryanman, three things happened:
1. A friend of mine died
2. A friend of mine was hospitalized in a coma
3. Two friends of mine died
Two thoughts are probably occurring:
"Dang, she has a LOT of friends- I didn't see that coming!"
"Is this a blog of a serial killer?!"
No I am not a serial killer, although I have lost a lot of fish due to my poor parenting, it wasn't murder! (RIP Bruce) Even though this seems like sad read, I promise it has a mind blowing ending- or at least gif of one!
In one month, four people's lives would never be the same. (Three died.) Not to mention the countless other lives those four people had touched. Not only did three of these individuals pass, but how they passed - really affected me. One committed suicide and two were murdered.
About now, I'm going to rate this blog PG13.
I'm having trouble just writing those "how's" out. So I'm going to avoid it for the rest of the post, lets just refer to it as S & M. As you can imagine, I was perplexed by this "why" in life.
M? M? M? How could someone M? The realities in this world just became so clear when someone close to me was M.
We see M happen all the time, fiction and real. Detective shows are like the only thing on cable these days. Currently I'm into one on Netflix- crazy plot - the main character is the devil! A podcast that I'm listening to are true stories sometimes involving M. When I listened to a particular episode, I realized that M's are a common thing depending on the community you are involved in. I also realized I didn't need a podcast or a tv show to show me things that were happening in my own city.
So why can stuff like this happen?
Because good vs. evil is real.
17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions (Gal. 5.17)
Good vs. evil is not just in movies?!!?!?!
Of course not, but I couldn't believe it.
8 Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. 9 The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. (Gen 2.8-9)
Okay, this is not my first time reading Genesis, and of course I know about the tree of good and evil...
But obviously it doesn't matter if this is my first or one thousandth time reading it because apparently I'm getting new understanding. Of course there is real evil in this world.
The devil = the evil one.
7 Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. 8 And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. 9 This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels (Rev. 12.7-9)
And within the garden of Eden was the serpent...
The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. (Gen 3.1)
Shrewd = deceptive... and the serpent was the most shrewd? Pro shreweder? Pro deceptor?
The devil = evil
The serpent = pro deceptor
The serpent = the devil
serpent = devil = evil = pro deceptor
He [the devil] was a murderer from the beginning. He [the devil] has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8.44)
And when the serpent deceived Eve, Eve took a bite of fruit from the tree of good and evil. Not only that, but she fed Adam a bite. Adam was instructed not to eat from the tree by God, it was forbidden. Doing what was forbidden was sin, thus Adam brought sin into this world.
12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Rom 5.12)
The devil brought death to the world because of Adam's sin. Adam's sin exiled us from Eden, but with good reason. The tree of life was still in garden. Because humanity had fallen, God did not want us to live forever in a fallen world.
So here is my conclusion, to why such terrible evils happen:
The devil lives among us, and he is evil. He tempts, taunts, and deceives us into giving into our sinful nature. Not everyone is of the Spirit, choosing to proclaim God as our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, they choose not have the desires of the Spirit, suppressing their awareness of It, to feed their own desires. The devil assists them and evil things result. Sin leads to death. And although this sucks... death, evil, wickedness, it does show that we have the free will to choose. But for those of us that do believe, we "triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ " (Rom 5.17). So even though we die in this world, or we lose people who die sometimes in evil, evil ways- we overcome death with eternal life in heaven.
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. (Rom. 5.8-9).
It took me months to process this. Heck, it took me four hours to write all of this. So for now, I'll showcase my fur babies.
