I came across a wonderful tv show within these last couple of weeks. It is a new cartoon on Netflix that I read about in my latest Cosmo read while waiting in a doctor's office. It is such a neat concept. I thought this show could be the greatest thing to happen. I told everyone about it. EVERYONE.
"Hey have you heard of the new show ___________" to my friends in bible study. "It's so cute! It's a cartoon that talks about ALL THE CHANGES that happen during puberty. They've really captured how to explain this stuff in a funny way to KIDS."
"Oh you are dealing with the stress of your teenage daughter? You guys should sit down and watch ____________. It's hilarious and will help all of you understand what's happening.
"This show is so cool! It's a kid's show that makes fun of how being a teenager sucks, tells them in a cool way what they are going through, and even does it by personifying hormones. They make a hormone monster- it's a family show - just like Bob's Burgers!" (Is Bob's Burgers a family show?)
How do any of these words really go together?
latest Cosmo read, bible study, ALL THE CHANGES, puberty, KIDS, guys should sit down and watch, kid's show, family show - just like Bob's Burgers!
How did I deduce Cosmopolitan magazine would do a write up on the latest kid's show...? #sbprobs
But what's worse is it took me eight episodes in to realize and be absolutely mortified that THIS IS NOT A CHILDREN'S/FAMILY/TEENAGE SHOW.
100%. This show is for 25 and up and I'm not even 25. To get a glimpse at the show, here is a picture of some of the main characters:
The show is called Big Mouth and yes everything you're thinking about that weird character is true- he is the boy's hormone monster- so yep his nose is shaped like a penis.
Please don't judge me.
ALRIGHT, you totally can judge me.
I agree that I'm not ready for parenting.
Side note, I'm thinking about working as a substitute teacher. #howesyourday
I do like this show, while I don't fully endorse it, I think their approach to sexual education is refreshing (especially compared those 1980s videos I watched in 2008). My husband is disagreeing, he says,"there is no approach to sexual education in this show." He is also still astounded that I went around telling people this is a family show.
Judge for yourself, email me later, but please only comment nice things so my self esteem and life itself isn't ruined. (<-- sarcasm...but is it🤔)
There is a point to this, but instead of fighting our short attention spans, I'll embrace them and make this topic into a couple of blog entries. Consider this the introduction. I'll leave you with verses that are my inspiration for the subject.
The Little Children and Jesus
13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
Perplexed? I know...
Enjoy your Tuesday.
